What You’ll Be Doing
As Vice President of Preconstruction, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all preconstruction activities while serving as a key member of the executive leadership team. You will help drive company growth, strengthen client relationships, lead pursuit strategies, and ensure successful project outcomes from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of estimators, preconstruction managers, and support staff.
- Oversee all budgeting, estimating, conceptual pricing, value engineering, and cost planning efforts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the Upstate and Southeast markets.
- Partner with executive leadership on business development initiatives, market expansion strategies, and project selection.
- Lead pursuit strategies for negotiated and competitive opportunities.
- Evaluate project risks, constructability challenges, and overall project feasibility.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality across all preconstruction deliverables.
- Monitor market conditions, labor trends, subcontractor relationships, and material pricing.
- Champion innovation, technology adoption, and process improvements within the preconstruction department.
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to ensure seamless project turnover and successful execution.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years of commercial construction experience with significant leadership responsibility in preconstruction, estimating, or operations.
- Proven success leading large-scale commercial construction pursuits and preconstruction teams.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to build trust and influence clients, design partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, procurement strategies, and project planning.
- Experience overseeing complex projects across multiple commercial market sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, develop talent, and drive organizational growth.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of project risk management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
